We currently have 3 products that contain a sulphate these are our Bubble Bath, Clear Hand Wash and Clear Body Wash which use a sulphate called Sodium Coco-Sulfate.

Sulfates have good foaming and cleansing properties and are readily rinsed off.

When used, they will leave skin and hair thoroughly clean and fresh, so we do offer these as an alternative option in some products where these properties are important.

The Sodium coco-sulfate we use is a naturally derived product made from whole vegetable oil which has a much greater range of larger molecules which do not enter skin, and therefore causes much less irritation than synthetically derived sulphates.

We do also add a refatting agent to our sulfate containing bases to prevent it being too stripping despite being thoroughly cleansing. (We use this in our own bathrooms.)

All Hera formulations have passed 12 weeks stability testing allowing for a 30 month shelf life therefore an expiry date is not required on product labels.

A period after opening (PAO) symbol is required. This varies between which packaging type is used;

– Closed container = 12M

– Open container = 6M

We use a combination of Ethylhexylglycerin and Phenoxyethanol which is a globally approved paraben-free preservative that is effective against bacterial, yeast and fungal growth.

We have tried a wide range of other preservatives in the past, we’ve always found this to be the best one that works with our high percentage of natural ingredients. Although synthetically mass produced, phenoxyethanol is found in nature in plants such as green tea and chicory.

The levels we use, are all within the cosmetic regulations and ensure our products remain safe and well protected against micro-organisms.

We cannot change our core formulations but if you have a request regarding removal of a carrier oil or natural extract then please get in touch.

Where applicable you are able to customise our bases by adding up to 3 extracts and 1 fragrance or essential oil blend from our catalogue.

No, our standard formulations have already been approved and tested to meet UK and EU Regulation (EC) N° 1223/2009.
